The device measures velocity fields in flows in the micrometer range.

The micro flow to be investigated is mixed with fluorescent micro particles. A
Double pulse Nd:YAG laser is focused on the sample through an epifluorescence microscope. With the help of
of a synchronization unit, two images are acquired during the laser pulses in short time intervals.
Distance recorded. The PIV images are then processed with PIV algorithms (cross correlation)
evaluated.
